PM Kisan: Status, Beneficiary List and Installments
What is PM Kisan?
PM Kisan (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) is a central government scheme that has been running since 1 December 2018. The centre pays for all of it, and each state government decides which farming families qualify.
An eligible family gets ₹6,000 a year, paid in three installments (kist) of ₹2,000 straight into an Aadhaar-linked bank account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). The scheme is for families who own farmland in their name. A family here means a husband, a wife and their minor children, and only one person in the family receives the installments.

Date not announced yet
Due between December 2026 and March 2027. The date hasn't been announced yet.
The year is split into three periods: April to July, August to November, and December to March. One installment is paid in each period, and the government announces the date separately every time. These were the last four:

Your bank sends an SMS when the installment arrives. If you don't get one, have your passbook updated or look it up in your status. The dates of the last ten installments, and what to check before the next one, are on the next installment page.
How to check your PM Kisan status
You check your status on the official PM Kisan website, pmkisan.gov.in. You need two things: your registration number, and the mobile number you gave PM Kisan, because the OTP is sent to that phone.
- Open pmkisan.gov.in and tap Know Your Status under Farmers Corner.
- Type your registration number in the Enter Registration No. box.
- Copy the letters from the picture into Captcha Code and tap Get OTP.
- Enter the OTP sent to your mobile, and your full status will open.
Type the captcha exactly as it appears. Capital and small letters count, so a and A are not the same. If the letters are hard to read, tap the round arrow beside them for a fresh captcha.
What your status shows
At the top are your details: name, state, district, village, bank and the date you registered. If anything there is wrong, get it corrected soon.
Below that, Eligibility Status lists three things, each marked Yes or No: Land Seeding, eKYC Status and Aadhaar Bank Account Seeding Status. A single No is enough to stop your installment.
At the bottom you'll see every installment with its status and date, and the bank account the money went to.
What the status messages mean
Every installment goes through these four stages before it reaches your account. The message in your status tells you which stage yours is at:
- State checkPending / Waiting for approval
- State approvalRFT Signed by State
- Payment orderFTO Generated
- Money in your accountPayment Success
Each installment has a short message next to it. This is what they mean:
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| Payment Success | The money has been sent to your bank account. Check your bank SMS or passbook. |
| FTO Generated | The government has issued the order to send the money (Fund Transfer Order). It is on its way and usually reaches your account within a few days. “Payment confirmation is pending” written alongside means the same thing. |
| RFT Signed by State | Your state government has checked your record and approved the payment (Request for Transfer). The FTO comes next. |
| Pending / Waiting for approval by State | The state government is still checking your record. Wait for the check to finish, and if it drags on, ask at your block or district agriculture office. |
| Rejected | The state has turned down the application or the installment. The reason is usually given, such as a name that doesn't match Aadhaar, something missing from the land papers, or not meeting the scheme's rules. To get the reason fixed, visit your block or district agriculture office. |
| Payment Failed | The installment was sent but didn't reach your account. This usually happens when the account has been closed or Aadhaar isn't linked to a bank account. Your bank can put it right, and the steps are on the Aadhaar–bank seeding page. |
| Temporarily withheld | The money is on hold until a check is complete. According to pmkisan.gov.in, this is happening where the land came into the farmer's name after 01-02-2019, or where more than one person in a family is taking the money (a husband and wife both, for example). |
The exact wording on the website can vary a little. The table gives the usual meaning.
Don't know your registration number?
The Know Your Status page has a Know Your Registration No. button at the top. Enter your mobile or Aadhaar number there, confirm with an OTP, and your registration number will appear. I've written out every step for finding your registration number on its own page.
Once you have it, write it down somewhere safe. You'll need it every time you check your status.
Three things every installment needs
Being registered isn't enough on its own. The installment comes only when all three of these are done, and your status should show Yes against each one:
Aadhaar–bank seeding
Your Aadhaar linked to a bank account for DBT. This is done at the bank.
Land seeding
Land seeding means your land in the state's land records has been linked to your PM Kisan record. Depending on the state, that record is called the khatauni, khasra or jamabandi. The link confirms that the land really is in your name, and it is done by the state government's agriculture and revenue departments.
You can see it in your status, under Eligibility Status, next to Land Seeding. If it says Yes, nothing more is needed on this front.
If it says No, this is how to get it fixed:
- Gather your latest land papers (a copy of the khatauni or jamabandi), your Aadhaar card and your registration number.
- Go to the block or tehsil agriculture office, or meet the patwari or lekhpal for your area.
- Tell them your land seeding shows No in PM Kisan, and hand in the papers.
- Check your status again after a few weeks. Once it turns Yes, you'll get the installments that follow.
Land seeding often gets stuck when the name on the land papers is written differently from the name on Aadhaar. In that case the name in the land record has to be corrected first.
What the land record is called in each state, and what to do about inherited land, is covered on the land seeding page.
Aadhaar–bank (NPCI) seeding
PM Kisan money is sent through Aadhaar, so your Aadhaar has to be linked to a bank account in NPCI for DBT. Giving the bank a photocopy of your Aadhaar is not enough. The account itself has to be enabled for DBT.
You can check whether the seeding is done in two places:
- In your PM Kisan status, look at Aadhaar Bank Account Seeding Status.
- On the Aadhaar website, myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in, log in with your Aadhaar number and an OTP, then open Bank Seeding Status. It shows which bank your Aadhaar is linked to.
To get it done:
- Take your Aadhaar card and passbook to the branch of the bank where you want the money.
- Fill in the form for Aadhaar seeding / DBT (NPCI) and give your consent.
- After a few days, check again in either of the places above.
If your Aadhaar is linked to more than one account, DBT money goes to the one most recently linked in NPCI. If your installment is landing in a different account, this may be why. You can also open an Aadhaar-based account with India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) at your post office and receive DBT there.
The full steps for seeding through your bank, NPCI's BASE portal or the post office are on the Aadhaar–bank seeding page.
Installment not received? The usual reasons
- eKYC isn't done. Your status will show No against eKYC Status. Get your eKYC done.
- Land seeding is pending. Your land record isn't linked to PM Kisan yet. See what to do.
- Aadhaar isn't linked to a bank account, or the linked account has been closed. Get NPCI seeding done.
- The application is under review or was rejected. Your status will say Pending or Rejected. Ask the block agriculture office for the reason.
- The installment is on hold for a check. If the land came into your name after 01-02-2019, or two people in the family are taking the money, the installment stays on hold until the check is over.
Start with your status, because most of the time the reason is written right there. Another common cause is a name spelt differently in Aadhaar, the bank and the land record, and for that there is name correction. If everything looks right and the installment still hasn't come, file a complaint.
Changed your mobile number?
The OTP for your status goes to the mobile number you gave PM Kisan. If that number has changed, add the new one through Update Mobile Number under Farmers Corner on pmkisan.gov.in. It helps if the new number is linked to your Aadhaar as well, so the eKYC OTP comes to the same phone.

Common questions
How much money do farmers get?
₹6,000 a year, paid in three installments of ₹2,000.
When will the next installment come?
The 25th installment is due between December 2026 and March 2027. The government announces the date once it is fixed, and it also appears on the front page of pmkisan.gov.in.
Can a husband and wife both get the installment?
No. A husband, wife and their minor children count as one family, and only one person in a family is paid. If both are taking it, the installment can be stopped during a check, and the government can ask for the money back.
Does it cost anything to check my status?
No. Checking your status on pmkisan.gov.in is free.
What if someone calls asking for money or an OTP to release my installment?
Don't give them anything. There is no fee for a PM Kisan installment, and the government never asks for an OTP over the phone. Callers like this are fraudsters.
Is this a government website?
No. Kisan Kisht is my own website. Your records are with the government, and only the government can change them.
